Caramelized Onions

 

 

Ingredients:

1 and one half tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 and one half pounds onions, halved and thinly sliced

 

 

Melt butter with oil in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat.

 

Add onions and sauté until tender and caramelized, about 20 minutes.

 

Serve warm, adding ground croutons for garnish if servings as a side dish.  Makes four side dish servings.
